Co-Owner Soho Dance
"Shall We Dance," says Rosann
Levy whose life has been changed and enhanced through the world
of dance. Having raised 4 children and reaping the benefits
of 7 and soon to be 8 grandchildren, Rosann‰s husband, of 45
years, Arthur Levy, recently opened New York‰s premier dance
studio, Soho Dance. Rosann‰s husband, a CPA, owned an accounting
firm with Rosann and 2 of their sons. Arthur being a practicing
accountant for 40 years, decided to sell his company and retire.
But retirement for the Levy‰s wasn‰t all it was made out to
be and they realized the needed to continue to be inspired,
excited and challenged. Being very active, enjoying travel,
hiking, biking etc. the fear of just sitting home and withering
away was unacceptable.
As fate would have it they planned a trip to Cuba and Rosann
felt if they were going to Cuba, they had to learn to dance
Salsa. Through their entire marriage, they never really danced,
that is partner dancing, as Arty says, we ‹fakedþ it. Learning
to dance was going to be a challenge as Arty believed he had
no rhythm, nonetheless, he agreed to tryááthus began their journey
into the world of dance.
Upon meeting, Raul Santiago, the Levy‰s began to take lessons.
To their amazement, they began to enjoy themselves much more
than they could have imagined. New doors were opening and their
lives were changing. After a few months of lessons, Raul took
the Levy‰s to the Copa, Latin Quarter, SOB‰s and other clubs
in the city at times when they would normally be going to bed.
The even began dancing at home, and found that dancing rekindled
their passion and enhanced their relationship.
The world of dance changed their lives for the better and what
is even better states Rosann, it has happened during our ‹Golden
Years.þ Feeling so strongly about it‰s positive influence, they
decided to share their passion and help others enhance their
lives through the world of dance as it has done for them. So
in thinking how to get their message in the marketplace, they
decided to open Soho Dance, along with Raul Santiago, (Artistic
Director) who introduced them to dance and it‰s life-altering
benefits.
Through Soho Dance the Levy‰s have created a life-enhancing
environment with the goal of improving the physical and mental
well being for all ages and all walks of life. Their mission
is to provide a friendly destination for those who simply want
to learn to dance or for those who want to add passion to and
better their lives and take ‹A Step Out of the Ordinary.þ
